Processing Project Internship

Archival Collections Department

The Project:

Hagley Library’s Archival Collections Department is seeking to employ a processing intern, budgets permitting, for 2022. The Archives Processing Intern(s) will be responsible for the conservation, arrangement, and description of an archival collection(s) under the supervision of the Head Archivist in the Archival Collections Department.

Specific Duties:

• Learning basic archival theory
• Reviewing materials condition for possible preservation attention
• Re-boxing, re-foldering, and labeling archival materials
• Arranging and describing materials
• Authoring EAD and DACS compliant findings aid(s) using ArchivesSpace

Qualifications:

The interns should, at a minimum, have experience using special collections or archives. Experience or training in archival processing and a desire to work in the library or archival field is preferred.

Terms:

The internships are part-time and capped at 17.5 hours per week. Standard internships last 320 hours but are negotiable up to this limit, with start and stop dates set by mutual agreement. Interns will be compensated at $15 per hour.
