We are pleased to announce that Laurie Rizzo, Hagley’s Audiovisual Archivist, has been awarded the second place prize by the MARAC Finding Aids Award Committee for her work on the Chamber of Commerce of the United States finding aid.
MARAC (Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference) gives the awards annually to recognize outstanding achievement in the preparation of finding aids by institutions within the region. Nominated finding aids are judged according to their content, their use of design capabilities inherent in their medium of publication, and the incorporation of successful innovations that enable researchers to more effectively access and use archival materials.
Laurie began processing the audiovisual portion of the U.S. Chamber collections starting in 2013 and completed the finding aid last year. The collection encompasses a variety of formats including photographs, video, and film in addition to digital content. The finding aid was among the first at Hagley to incorporate digital materials as part of a larger collection of analog material. It will serve as a model for processing similar collections at Hagley in the future.
We are pleased that MARAC has recognized Laurie and her excellent work in making these important records accessible to Hagley’s research community.
