Chalk this up to things you don’t see every day. That’s what I’m doing, because librarians don’t ordinarily get involved with heavy machinery.
If you haven’t figured out what’s happening in the picture above, a car is being installed on the second floor of Hagley’s visitor center. This 1958 Metropolitan “1500” is the centerpiece of Hagley’s upcoming exhibit, “Driving Desire: Automobile Advertising and the American Dream.” This exhibit explores the relationship between automobile advertising and Americans’ buying decisions about their cars.
The exhibit opens on October 2nd, and we hope to share our amazing automotive collections with visitors of all ages. Bring the whole family!
We know you’re excited, but remember: children should not be allowed to sit unrestrained in the observation lounge.
Please drive responsibly!
