Andrew Peck & Co.’s Series of Out-Door Sports, Containing Instructions on Training for Pedestrianism, Base Ball Playing, Running, & C. was issued in 1868 and was the second in a two-part series of manuals instructing readers on outdoor sports like ice skating, dumb bell usage, swinging trapezes, walking, running, and “feats of endurance of all descriptions”.
Hagley Library’s copy of this volume was purchased from Wright, Howland, & Mahn, purveyors of sporting goods from their storefront on Kneeland Street in Boston, Massachusetts, and presented to the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology by Horace J. Howe, Esquire. It is Pam * 84.3 in our collection of pamphlets and trade catalogs.
