HAGLEY MUSEUM AND LIBRARY 2024 MUSEUM COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP

Internship overview:
Hagley Museum and Library seeks two (2) part-time interns for 10 weeks beginning in Summer 2024. 

This internship provides an opportunity to further develop collections management skills, with an emphasis on object handling, cataloging, re-housing, and storage. Interns are supervised by the Collections Manager and the Registrar/Database Manager. Working with the museum’s 70,000 object collection of DuPont Company, du Pont family, and innovation-related objects, interns will gain experience with a diversity of materials including, but not limited to, ceramics, metals, textiles, synthetics, and composite materials. 

Minimum Experience and Required Skills:
•Applicants should be currently enrolled in a graduate program or have recently completed a program in museum studies or related field (undergraduates with exceptional backgrounds will be considered). 

•Previous hands-on collections management experience (specifically, familiarity with and skills in object handling, housing or inventory, and object numbering)

•Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and flexibility.

•Be able to bend, stoop, lift 40 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. frequently and independently, and climb stairs and ladders.

Details:
The part-time (20 hrs./week) internship is accompanied by stipend compensation of $18/hr. for 10 weeks, beginning in early summer 2024. Hagley is willing to work with the intern’s institution to meet course credit requirements.  

Hagley is unable to provide housing for internships.
