Thanks to a Hagley Exploratory Research Grant, I was recently able to spend a week at Hagley’s Library to conduct research for my dissertation, which examines the material culture of exploration and field science in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

The main goal of the museum’s inventor research project is to learn as much as we can about the people behind the patent models in our collection.
