Having Fun Isn't Hard When You've Got a Research Card

Tuesday, September 24, 2024

Did you know September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month? The American Library Association (ALA) created this celebration to encourage people of all ages to access and enjoy their libraries and the knowledge within.

To celebrate this month, we’re sending a reminder that Hagley has a Researcher Card program. This card allows the holder free access to use our holdings for research, be it scholastic, genealogical, or just for fun.

Here at Hagley Museum and Library, we preserve over 13,300 archival collections and objects and upwards of 230,000 published materials. Our manuscript materials take up nearly 9.5 miles of space on their own! The content of these collections runs the gamut, from traditional corporate archives and midcentury design portfolios to patent models and du Pont family ephemera.

And while we try to share as much of our materials as possible thought through exhibits and our digital archives, there’s are near endless histories to explore. The good news is that, with a Researcher Card, you can access our archives yourself! We are a non-circulating library, meaning that, while you may not take materials home with you, our helpful staff will deliver items to you to view in our Hagley Soda House Reading Room.

The Hagley archives are Soda House Reading Room is open by appointment Monday through Thursday Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM and Fridays from 9 AM to 12:30 PM. and by appointment only in the Hagley Soda House Reading Room.
