A Modern Store: Strawbridge and Clothier (1932)
This month's featured film is from our Strawbridge and Clothier collection. The film goes all the way back to 1932 when the famed department store expanded its flagship store on the corner of 8th and Market Streets in Philadelphia.

The Halfway Point – Reflecting Back
November marks the halfway point of the project – two years down, two to go. Much of the new material will be discoverable and available early in 2020, with additional maintenance and improvements coming to the collection as a whole over the remainder of the project.

The United States Navy was well aware of the threat posed by German U-boats when America entered World War I in April 1917. Kaiser Wilhelm’s submarines wrought havoc on Allied shipping since the War began in 1914, sinking hundreds of vessels.
