The Hagley Library is excited to announce the launch of a new platform for our digital archives. We have been hosting an online archive of curated library content for nearly a decade and this is our first major upgrade. The AVD Department has been working on migrating to the new site for close to two years and we are thrilled to finally share it with the research community.
The new website is now live and can be visited at digital.hagley.org
We would love to hear your feedback! If you have any input on the new site, please send it via email to askhagley@hagley.org. The site is a work in progress and we plan on continuing to improve and enhance the site in the coming months and years. Much of this development will be driven by user feedback so please let us know what you think!
The project to migrate to the new platform took a heroic effort on the part of our staff. Most notably, Angela Schad worked with our legacy data to improve, configure, and then migrate it to the new system. She sifted through approxiately ten terrabytes of data and thousands of metadata records. The new site is so much better because of her work. Mike Demers who started at Hagley in March came to us with an expertise in working with our platform of choice (Islandora) and has spent all of his time preparing the site and its content for public launch. Laurie, Lynsey, and Skylar from the AVD Department have supported this massive project in countless ways from the beginning and we received excellent feedback from library reference staff as we configured the public interface. We also the appeciate the patience and the support from library director Erik Rau on this big step towards improving the library's digital infrastructure.
To read more about the project, we posted about it here in April.
