Summary: William Field organized the Brandywine Granite Company on the former site of Locke & Company's quarry, which was located on land owned by Field. The Brandywine Granite Company provided stone for the Delaware Breakwater project and other government projects. The company also had an exhibit at the Chicago World's Fair in 1892-1893. Field retired in 1895, and the company ceased business in 1902 after an injured worker sued the company. The quarry was taken over by Stewart & Donohue.
