Summary: In the late eighteenth century, Isaac Jones operated a mill site on the north side of the Brandywine. Jones ran a flour mill on the property, but he was better known for his snuff mill, where tobacco was ground into powdered snuff. Jessup & Moore eventually purchased the abandoned mill in 1843, and it became the site of their paper-making operation.
