A satirical drawing below, created by consulting package designer Irv Koons, suggests the frustrations that can arise in the process of designing a new package. While disagreements and frustrations between Koons and Alpo did not lead to the downfall of Alpo’s cat food brand, the image demonstrates that designing new packages can be a difficult process.
For this or many other reasons, many packages never leave the drawing table. Also shown are other early Koons designs for Alpo’s cat food brand that never did make it to store shelves.
